Why does my Fiber become clumpy, thick and gel-like?Updated 11 days ago

This actually has a very important role in fiber!  As soluble fiber dissolves, it creates a gel that can improve digestion in several ways.

Fiber GDX includes soluble and insoluble fiber, each providing different benefits. When soluble fiber comes in contact with water, it becomes a gel-like substance that can help slow down carbohydrate digestion. This process may also increase satiety and support blood sugar levels. Insoluble fiber also aids in moving food through the digestive tract, creating a laxative effect.

Additionally, fiber is a prebiotic, which means it nourishes the health-promoting microbes in your digestive tract.

While all this amazing fiber is great for digestion and our microbiome, it may not always provide a pleasant consumption experience.  Here are some tips for taking fiber:

  • Add it to 8 oz or more water and stir/shake vigorously.  The more water, the better!  Using a shaker bottle with a whisk ball or an agitator can help quickly mix up the fiber.  If it begins to gel up, add more water and continue to shake and consume.  A handheld mixer or frother is also good for mixing the fiber.  Some people find it easier to consume quickly, and others like to continue to add water, shake, and consume over time.
  • Combine the fiber with other products, such as collagen or creatine, and add ingredients such as Greek yogurt with berries and water (lots of water!) and blend! This can help thin out the fiber a bit.
