Is the collagen Type 1, 2, or 3?Updated 8 hours ago

The use of Type 1, Type 2, Type 3, etc. labels on collagen indicates the source material from which the collagen originates.  

Type-1 originating from animal skin
Type-2 from joint tissue 
Type-3 originating from animal digestive tracts and bone marrow

Body part-specific sourcing is based on the expectation that consuming a specific type of collagen peptide will benefit a particular part of the body. For example, Type-1 originated collagen peptides can help one’s skin better than other types. Type 3 would be expected to benefit digestive health, the circulatory system, and bones more likely.

However, we view the use of the type-ing categorization as an indicator that the manufacturer of the product does not have the technology sophistication to develop specific hydrolyzation techniques that have been proven through research to more optimally benefit specific collagen structures in the body (skin, cartilage, tendons, bones, etc.) in comparison to type’d collagens.

Instead, a Type-1 or similar label indicates the manufacturer is using a generally available hydrolyzation methodology without the ability to specifically tailor the peptide profile to the intended part of the body, and so is relying upon the type of the source material to approximate that for them. 

A 'Type' approach will deliver some results, but is less effective than our products' collagen peptides.
